In order to listen to the feedback and demands of the Chinese enterprises that had attended the International Business Opportunity Seminar held in Lahore of Pakistan in May of the year and attracted more than 130 Chinese enterprises, the Embassy of Pakistan in China and the “Action Plan” Group particularly held this Seminar, aiming to collect various demands and suggestions from the Chinese enterprises and convey to the governments, chamber of commerce and enterprises of Pakistan, which can promote the exchange and cooperation on economy, business and technology between Chinese and Pakistan as well as help Chinese enterprises enter Pakistan more easily.

At the meeting, Ambassador Masood first made a welcome speech. He remarked, Pakistan is China’s only all-weather strategy cooperation partner, which is a testimony for the long-term friendship between China and Pakistan and should not be affected by the change of leaders. Pakistan has always been the supporter of China’s Belt and Road Initiative, and the Sino-Pakistan Economic Corridor is the flag program of the two countries, which has provided a huge market for Chinese enterprises entering Pakistan. Pakistan is willing to listen to the sound of Chinese enterprises and will actively settle the problems occurred in the cooperation of the two parties. The government of Pakistan has invested a great deal of resources to protect the safety of Chinese enterprises and welcomes more and more excellent Chinese enterprises to seek development in Pakistan and make a good demonstration for the implementation of China’s B&R Initiative.

The former UN Under-Secretary-General Sha Zukang was in favor of Ambassador Masood’s speech and emphasized that Pakistan had always stood in China’s side on the issue of China and India, and spared no efforts to provide assistance when disaster occurred in China, such as earthquake. Chinese enterprises should keep the enthusiasm to Pakistan market and take an active part in the infrastructure construction of Pakistan

The Counselor Erfa Iqbal introduced the importance of Pakistan and made a detailed report on B&R Initiative and “New Opportunity” of Sino-Pakistan Economic Corridor. She expressed that the two countries has a broad cooperative prospect in many fields, such as, energy, infrastructure and industrial cooperation, etc. Besides, she made a brief introduction about the preferential policy under the incentive mechanism of Special Economic Zones and GPS+ frame, all of which provide effective policy support for Chinese enterprises entering Pakistan.

At the meeting, 7 company representatives among the 130 Chinese enterprises were selected to make a speech, and they were Chinabidders, Beijing Construction Engineering Group, China Gezhouba (Group) Corporation, etc. As the representative of private medium and small enterprises, Chinabidders gave an 8-minute speech, which briefly introduced the company’s achievements made in project operation in Pakistan during the past 15 years and mentioned the practical problems currently encountered by medium and small enterprises in Pakistan. Chinabidders’s spokesman Ms Yang Ling said, B&R Initiative builds framework for Pakistan’s long-term development and provides great opportunities for China’s large-scale enterprises at the same time. However, B&R Initiative still needs medium and small enterprises to enrich its edge, so China’s M&S enterprises should take an active part in Pakistan’s private projects. Chinabidders is willing to find excellent Chinese enterprises to develop projects in Pakistan and provide China Solution for Pakistan’s future development.

Ambassador Masood recorded all the problems put forwarded by the representative enterprises and made a short summary at the end of the seminar. He remarked that there are more than 4000 “going out” Chinese enterprises registered in the world and Pakistan firmly trusts the capacity of Chinese enterprises. Lack of communication is the biggest problem for China and Pakistan, and language has been the barrier for deep communication of the two parties. Now, there are lots of Pakistan students studying in China, who may help remove the communication barrier for the Chinese enterprises in Pakistan. At last, the ambassador expressed that Pakistan had made a series of preferential policies to help Chinese enterprises seek development in Pakistan and hoped the Chinese enterprises take the initiative to know more about Pakistan, making the Sino-Pakistan cooperation deeper and wider.
